AGT400 Upgrades Shipped to Mill Steel

Mill Steel has received two AGT400 Upgrade packages from Advanced Gauging Technologies. This is the next step in replacing their current obsolete isotope gauges. By re-using their current C-frames and hardware, Mill Steel is saving on costs while enjoying the benefits of a greatly improved thickness gauge.

Obsolete gauges are often more trouble to remove than they are worth. Here at A.G.T., we work to ensure that gauges don’t go to waste. Where removing a gauge, doing the paperwork to ship its source off, and replacing the gauge can be extremely costly and time-consuming, we’ve worked to make our AGT400 Upgrade service a quick, cost-effective solution to solve both problems at the same time! If you have an obsolete isotope gauge that could use an upgrade, you can find our Upgrade service explained in detail here.

AGT Receives New Order From South Korea

Advanced Gauging Technologies has received an order from PATEC Co., Ltd., providing two AGT400 front ends for their current project with Wonilsa Co., Ltd.

Our AGT400 front ends will be used on a Hitachi four-high rolling mill to measure brass, bronze, and copper. With our AGT400 parts installed, Wonilsa Co. will be sure that they are receiving the most accurate measurements possible to ensure they are providing the most accurate thickness measurement possible to further improve the quality and efficiency of their line.

Advanced Gauging Technologies has worked extensively with South Korea in the past, providing AGT400 Thickness Gauges to KSP Steel Company. We are always excited to look internationally and provide service centers around the world with our industry-leading gauges. We also look forward to working on additional future projects with PATEC, and continuing to provide our gauges for facilities in Korea.

AGT Width Gauge: Same Specs, Lowered Costs

For 2026, we have focused our efforts here at AGT to help fit the needs of our many clients and customers, especially during the previous quarters of uncertainty for the steel industry.

As such, we’ve finalized development for our new, updated AGT Width Gauge. Due to these internal developments, the price for a new AGT Width Gauge has been significantly lowered, while retaining its top-of-the-line specifications!

Our AGT Width Gauge uses high-precision Keyence lasers to measure both the width and centerline deviation of metals, plastics, PVC, and many other materials! By using lasers in our gauge, we are able to measure with no limits on maximum width, while remaining accurate down to 0.0004″.

This gauge is perfect for both on-line and quality table/laboratory applications, with the gauge’s simple design allowing it to be fit on most lines and tables with ease. The AGT Width Gauge is also designed to fit perfectly as an add-on to existing AGT400 or AGT800XT Thickness Gauges!

Laser Thickness Gauges and Measurement

Our AGT800XT Laser Thickness Gauge offers many benefits compared to competing gauges; primarily, having a laser-based gauge helps to avoid the paperwork and costs of isotope gauges.

However, what sets our laser gauges apart from competing gauges most of all is their expansive measurement capabilities. Isotope gauges are largely restricted to metal applications, due to the method of measurement. Our laser gauges, however, are capable of measuring plastics, paper, rubber composites, PVC, and various other materials, on top of being able to measure each metal that the AGT400 can. Our AGT800XT can measure material on extruders, measure emboss depth, and the gauge’s advanced software, developed in-house, is able to create printable graphs and reports for each finished job.

Where the AGT400 has restraints in thickness that result in a maximum thickness of ~0.400″, the AGT800XT is able to reliably measure material with a thickness of up to an inch, while remaining accurate down to 0.003″. Our laser gauges have been able to help many applications and centers that operate outside of the steel service industry, and has become one of our most reliable, high-tech, accurate products. For a large variety of applications where an isotope gauge just won’t cut it, our AGT800XT is the best-in-industry solution!

AGT800XT Gauge Shipped to Darke Metals

Darke Metals has received its AGT800XT, which was purchased this January. Their gauge will be installed on a 75″ slitting line to measure various steel alloys during processing.

This gauge’s frame is capable of oscillation, which allows for the frame to scan the material’s entire width, ensuring further quality control of the entire coil. Additionally, our thickness gauges all come prepared with SPC reporting and auto data collection, sending key information through a level 2 network to be printed out and analyzed. Alongside these benefits, our AGT800XT Laser Thickness Gauge does not require special licensure or inspection the way that an isotope or X-ray gauge does. This helps Darke Metals quickly install and prepare their gauge for use without worry. That’s Measuring Made Easy.
