Metal Processing Corporation of Gary, Indiana has finalized the purchase of one AGT800XT Laser Thickness Gauge alongside the purchase of a brand-new Braner Slitting Line. They will be measuring various metal alloys including HRPO and Galvanized steel, between 0.018″-0.300″ thickness. Additionally, they will be using our patented Passline Angle Compensation technology to further increase quality of measurement.

This is Metal Processing Corporation’s first purchase of an AGT800XT, and is expected to be installed in early 2027. Our AGT800XT Laser Thickness Gauge will provide a simple, reliable turnkey solution for metal thickness measurement. Alongside its accurate measurements, MPC will benefit from our Offline Data Analysis software, being able to access and print any measurements taken by the operator. This will increase internal quality control and customer satisfaction. Additionally, our AGT800XT requires no additional licensure or leak testing, reducing logistical stress for our end users. Two new AGT400 Isotope Thickness Gauges have been shipped to Mill Steel Company. This gauge will be measuring various metal coatings alongside aluminized, galvanized, and galvannealed steel on a Reusch Reducing Line.

Alongside the gauge itself, Mill Steel has purchased a Remote Operator Control Station, which will allow their operator to utilize the gauge despite the distance between our electronics cabinet and the operator’s main control area. This will further increase the productivity and ease of use for the workers at Mill Steel.

The two gauges’ startup dates are still to be determined. These are Mill Steel’s third and fourth purchases of the year. We are always happy to work with Mill Steel to keep their measurements reliable and consistent.

In a slight deviation from our standard shipping practices, John Fearing and Jack Schwarz have delivered an AGT Width Gauge to Cleveland Cliffs Columbus Coatings. Since this Cleveland Cliffs location is nearby to our business, and our Width Gauge is relatively light, we were able to ship the Width Gauge directly to our customer.

This Width Gauge will be installed to their Galvanizing Line to replace a Harris Scan-A-Line Width Gauge, where it will measure both Galvanized and Galvannealed Steel.

We are currently planning to start their gauge in October. We look forward to providing Cliffs with a brand-new upgraded Width Gauge.

 

Two AGT400 Isotope Thickness Gauges have been shipped to California Steel Industries. These will be installed onto their No. 3 CGL line to measure Cold Rolled & Pickled Hot Band steel.

We will be tentatively starting up these gauges in the next few months. These will be CSI’s third and fourth thickness gauge in their facility. Our AGT400 Isotope Thickness Gauge has provided them with reliable and accurate measurements to help them improve quality and production, and this additional purchase will help them further improve their facility with our industry-leading gauges.

Feralloy Corporation of Ghent, Kentucky has recently purchased an AGT800XT and Width Gauge add-on for their Butech CTL line.

These gauges will be measuring HR, PO, and GV once started up, and will measure a thickness range of 0.035-1.000″. Both gauges will be able to communicate with their PLC, providing both digital and analog outputs and receiving commands from higher-level systems. This way, if material measures out of tolerance, the line will stop, reducing the amount of waste greatly. by purchasing both a thickness and width gauge, Feralloy is efficiently improving upon their productivity, product quality, and operator safety by removing the need to hand-measure.
