Delaco Steel (Dearborn, MI), has ordered a new AGT400 to upgrade an obsolete GR200 thickness gauge. This system will be used to measure various steel alloys on a 72” Pro-Eco Slitting Line. Shipment is scheduled for early May 2017.
HEIDTMAN STEEL ORDERS NEW AGT400
Heidtman Steel has ordered a new AGT400 thickness gauge to upgrade an obsolete GR200 located at their Butler, IN plant. The upgrade will include all new electronics and A.G.T.’s proprietary thickness measurement and S.P.C. reporting software. This gauge, currently located on their BUS 1 60” Pro-Eco slitter, will be used to process steel with a thickness range of .050” to .250”. Shipment is scheduled for December 21, 2016.
A.G.T. Visits IMTS Show in Chicago
Steve Venters and Derrick Baker recently visited the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) at McCormick Center in Chicago. The purpose of the visit was threefold:
1) See firsthand the new technologies and innovative manufacturing solutions being offered by show exhibitors; 2) Connect with current and possible new vendors; and 3) Investigate joint opportunities with show attendees.
During our visit we were able to observe everything from robotics to process automation, new ERP software to 3-D printing, precision laser cutting to material handling systems. It is always fascinating to see the advances being made in manufacturing technology from year to year and the 2016 IMTS show was no exception.
A.G.T. SHIPS NEW LASER GAUGE FOR VINYL PROCESSING LINE
A.G.T. has shipped a new AGT800 laser thickness gauge for use on a vinyl sheeting extrusion line located in east central North Carolina. The material produced on this line comes in various colors and thicknesses ranging from .025” up to .500”. This application demonstrates the versatility of the AGT800 which can measure virtually any material in coil, sheet or strip form.
A.G.T. and Concord Steel Address Canadian Weston 5310 Sources
A.G.T. has been awarded three new purchase orders from Concord Steel Centre Ltd. (Woodbridge, ON) to address the upcoming decertification of Weston 5310 isotope sources in Canada. The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has advised that certification of these sources, used on non-contact thickness gauges, will expire January 31, 2017. The purchase orders cover the following actions: 1) Removal, packing, leak testing and transfer to A.G.T. of two 5310 sources currently in use at Concord; 2) Replacement of an obsolete Loral 3500 isotope thickness gauge with a new AGT800 laser thickness gauge; and 3) Replacement of a 5310 source with a new AGT400 Am241 source head assembly which has already been recertified for use in Canada by the CNSC.
