With her father being a Drug and Alcohol Counselor in the United States Air Force it wasn’t long after being born in Chillicothe, Ohio that her family moved around to different military bases. MeLisa and her family returned to Ohio in 1987. After graduating from high school MeLisa went on to get her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
While in college MeLisa began working for a small decorating company. This experience helped her discover that she has a real knack for coordinating office procedures, learning how businesses operate, thinking ahead and proactively organizing. After graduation she continued to work with the decorating company on a full time basis as their Office Manager.
After nearly 16 years working for the same company and a move to North Carolina, she sought new employment. A local law firm hired MeLisa as their Office Manager. In 2003, she received her Paralegal Studies from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Working in law and the court system honed her organizational, time management, and accounting skills. Her boss would say, “MeLisa is the queen of herding cats” – making sense out of chaos.
MeLisa decided after 8 years of being away that it was time to come back to Ohio. While working as a paralegal for Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio; a note was found on her car. The note was from a former flame – Todd, who she had dated in the mid 90’s. They began re-dating in 2012 and they remain committed today residing in Westerville, Ohio.
MeLisa is thrilled to be able to participate in the lives of Todd’s three children. Dylan is the oldest and loves baseball, basketball, video games and cars. Ashley is the middle and enjoys hanging out with her friends, ice skating, gymnastics, dance, soccer and softball. Riley, she is the youngest and has developed a great passion for animals and sports, especially swimming. Her greatest love is a loaded baked potato.
In the fall MeLisa is glued to the T.V. watching college football. She is an all-out Buckeye fan but if they are not on, any game will do. She loves DIY projects around the house and hosting dinner parties, adding a twist to any event with her positive personality and humor. MeLisa recently began volunteering her time with Clothes Mentor, assisting women into the workforce. During summer months, good luck finding anyone home. If they are not on the field watching the kids’ sporting games you will find this outdoor family on the water, biking, hiking, or at a local park.
MeLisa’s motto in life is simple. Be kind and live in love.
