Scott was born in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1964 and moved to Ohio when he was three years old. He started working part-time as soon as he began high school, and he’s been a workaholic ever since. Always fascinated by electronics and technology, Scott read all ten thousand pages of his father Ron’s Army Training Manuals on Electronics from cover to cover. He was quite the geek - designing and building his own electronic circuit boards at age 14. By 16, he had gotten interested in hopping up cars, and went to work as a Sales Clerk for Nationwise Auto Parts. At age 18 he was promoted to Co-assistant Manager, by 19 he was Assistant Manager, by 20 he was Assistant Buyer and by 22 he was promoted to Buyer. At that point, his merchandising career really started to blossom and he found himself recruited and re-recruited by major automotive and hardware corporations from Ohio to Kansas to Colorado to Pennsylvania.
Scott met Tracy in Pennsylvania, and they started dating in 1996. They’ve been living together in Westerville, Ohio since 1997, and may even consider marriage in another decade or two. :) Tracy loves animals and has really broadened Scott’s horizons in this area. She’s also very much into cars; her current collection includes a 2000 Trans Am with 500 horsepower, a 2002 Grand Prix GTX with 400 horsepower and a 2006 GMC Sierra one-ton turbo diesel dualie pick-up truck, which is her favorite one to drive. Scott has a daughter named Richelle, who is 16 going on 21. She is a merit-roll student, loves boys, animals, music and writing, and hates algebra and chores.
Scott started working in his parents’ business (CORON Electronics) in 1996, with his first service call being made to Feralloy Corporation in Granite City, Illinois. From the day he saw his first thickness gauge, Scott was intrigued by the technology, and enjoyed his time working with his father Ron. Together, they worked to develop the AGT400 Thickness Gauge & S.P.C. Reporting System, which was introduced to the steel service center market in 1997, and is the market leader today.
Always driven by the thrill of competition, Scott has excelled in powerlifting, Tae Kwon Do, kickboxing and drag racing over the years. He competed in drug-tested powerlifting for eleven years, with official lifts of: 530 pound squat @ 181 bodyweight, 410 pound bench press and 562 pound dead lift @ 198 pound bodyweight. He set several drug-free powerlifting records himself, and coached a team of others who set records as well. Scott studied Tae Kwon Do for seven years, achieving the rank of second degree red belt. Today at age 44 he still lifts weights, throws a few punches and kicks, and recently completed his first ‘metric 100’ (64 miles in just under four hours) on a road bike.
In drag racing, Scott first started modifying the 2000 Bonneville SSEi he used to use for gauge service calls, and continued relentlessly until it ran a 10.71-second quarter mile. Spawned by his racing hobby, INTENSE-Racing was formed in 2001, specializing in performance for late-model GM FWD vehicles, and today customers from Australia to Canada run INTENSE engine and transaxle components on the street, in their race cars and even in their race boats! INTENSE-powered cars have held the 3800 FWD quarter mile record for the majority of the last four years, with a best to date of 9.22 @ 154 MPH! Scott currently drives a new Pontiac G8, which has already been built up to an astounding 880 horsepower. Check out Scott’s alter-ego at www.INTENSE-Racing.com.
Scott’s latest passion is tournament poker, which he discovered in 2006. He really enjoys the fact that all types of people play the game. He understands that competing at the top level will require a very high degree of skill (as well as some good luck). Scott attended Camp Hellmuth, and believes his game is improving with every tournament he enters. In June 2008 he placed 32nd out of 1,397 players, and cashed for $14,137 in the World Series of Poker (Event #13) in Las Vegas. Never lacking in confidence, Scott is convinced that he will become a factor in some major poker tournaments within the next few years. Check out Scott's OTHER alter-ego at www.BadBeatsPoker.net.
