Introduction |
Advanced Gauging Technologies (A.G.T.) was founded in 1997 by the father and son team of Ron and Scott Cook. Their goal was to bring isotope thickness gauging into the 21st century. In the eight years since the first AGT400 system startup, A.G.T. has already sold more than 135 gauging systems – strong evidence that customers feel we have delivered tomorrow's gauging system today. In addition to our own gauges, we perform regular service on more than 300 of our competitors' gauges throughout North America. The Gauging Times™ is a quarterly newsletter designed to keep current and future customers up-to-date with the latest thickness gauging technology and features, along with services we offer. In each issue we'll share some of our system's unique capabilities, in addition to personal profiles, technical tips and glimpses of our future product development. |
Personel Profiles |
In keeping with the Dan Marchio theme from the last issue of The Gauging Times™, we once again are making him the center of attention. This time, we are celebrating Dan's five year mark with A.G.T., which he reached in the spring of 2006. Dan was originally hired in 2001 as a Service Technician. His job duties at the time involved all the steps necessary to manufacture AGT400 thickness gauges. Over the years, Dan has assumed more and more responsibility. While he still oversees the building of all the AGT400 thickness gauges, he now takes care of other areas of the business like inventory, purchasing and quality control.
Not much has changed in Dan's personal life since the last issue. His wife hasn't left him, he hasn't lost his new house, he still has his 'Blue Bunny' and both of his cats are still alive. Everything seems to be going well for Dan, and we hope that continues. Congratulations on passing the five year mark here at Advanced Gauging! |
Technical Tip |
The AGT400 Thickness Gauge and Reporting System comes standard with a one of a kind Diagnostic Data screen that allows for the quick and easy viewing of all pertinent system data. One important item we would like to point out is the Chan 0 Preamp A/D. This field is extremely helpful if telephone troubleshooting is ever required. Located near the center of the screen, the Chan 0 Preamp A/D number can give us an indication of how much voltage is making it back from the detector head. Using this, we can many times determine where a problem is! If you call us with a gauge measurement problem, we will probably ask you to take a look at this screen to help us help you.
In addition to the Chan 0 Preamp A/D, depending on your problem, we may also have you look at your voltages, shutter status, or tachometer pulses. All of these and more are available on the Diagnostic Data Screen. And don't forget, our telephone troubleshooting is free and available to all of our customers…regardless of gauge type! |
